Donax clams or Coquina clam shells are wedge-shaped and vary in color from white, yellow and pink to blue and mauve.  They are small, edible saltwater clams, sometimes known as Bean clams,  wedge shells or in the southeaastern US they are known as "coquina", a word that is also used for the hard limestone concretions of their shells.  Donax Clams or Coquina clams inhabit sandy beaches along the coasts worldwide.
