Halves of Rock Scallops Shells for jewelry crafts sold in packs of 1 and in 4 (Spondylus Calcifer). These shells measure between approximately 6 inches and 6-7/8 inches in size. The interior of the rock scallop shells are very smooth and creamy white mother of pearl in color and are used in making jewelry. The exterior of the shells are very rough, with lots of indentations, calcium deposits and tiny shells and barnacles embedded into the surface, with streaks of purple. You will receive halves of these rock scallop shells. They will not be from the same rock scallop and will vary in size, shape and coloring.
Spondylus Calcifer was used principally for beads and other artifacts. Under normal conditions, the bivalve is not found in the colder waters off the coast of Peru. Spondylus calcifer is found from the Gulf of California to Ecuador.
