Animal bones including wild boar bones are used in taxidermy displays, carving bone, painting bone and in bone art. All the wild boar bones sold on this website have been harvested in Georgia and have been cleaned and whitened. There are numerous ways to clean wild boar bones. We are in no way experts; however, we are overrun with hogs and have a lot of boar bones to clean. We use the fastest method to get the best results. Wild hogs and boars cause a significant amount of damage to farmland. They cause an estimated $1.5 billion in economic damages annually across the United States. They damage crops such as corn, peanuts, vegetables, watermelons, soybean, and cotton by consuming and trampling them. They also damage pasture by rooting and digging. If you don't have time to clean your hog bones, don't worry, we have a wide selection of wild boar and deer bones for purchase, listed below.
How We Clean Wild Boar Bones
Supplies:
1) Outdoor Propane Burner with large stainless steel pot with basket.
2) 35% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide (whitener/disinfectant).
3) Eye protection.
4) Gloves
5) Scalpel or hunting knife
Instructions:
1) Remove the skin and meat from the bones. It is best to use bones that have already had the meat removed by vultures and bugs.
2) Add one gallon 35% food grade peroxide to a large pot of simmering water.
3) Place the bones in a basket or pot with holes and place it inside the larger pot for approximately 30 minutes.
4) Remove the basket and check the bones to see if they are clean and white.
5) If they are still not clean or white, place them back in the simmering peroxide and water mixture for an additional 10 to 15 minutes. Watch them carefully as overprocessing will cause them to have a chalky appearance.
6) Remove the bones, rinse them off with water and let them dry thoroughly in the sun for several days.
